About Me
Prior to training in massage I taught for 10 years as a primary school teacher. Whilst taking some time out I worked part-time in a Natural Health Store and attended healing courses. My intrigue at the body’s ability to heal itself given the right support was unleashed! I worked with a nutritionist and my life transformed as health niggles I had had for many years started disappearing! Around the same time my husbands chronic psoriasis was cured through homeopathy and I found myself compelled to learn about natural forms of health & healing.
I then began training with the Scottish School of Professional Massage, qualifying in Therapeutic & Foundation Remedial Massage in the summer of 2000 and Clinical Aromatherapy in Jan 2001. I was really amazed at the difference my massage made to people’s health and happiness. It was one thing to learn something at an academic level and quite another to put it into practice and witness the results.
I trained in LaStone® Therapy in 2002, such a powerful treatment. For 2 academic years I attended The College of Natural Nutrition (Scotland) which I found completely fascinating although I chose not to complete the formal assessment programme.
In Nov 2006 my husband and I fulfilled our dream of moving to Canmore as permanent residents! Early in 2007 I attended Reiki Level I and II courses. I received my registered status from the NHPC (formerly AMTWP) at the beginning of June 2007.
Since starting my massage business in 2000 I have always been self-employed. In Scotland I worked from home, was mobile for elderly clients who were unable to travel and built up an extremely successful business within an osteopathic clinic.
Over the years I have transformed my life from one of stressed workaholic with aches, pains and minor ailments - which I previously thought were just part of the natural process of getting older - to good health and a fantastic feeling of freedom and happiness!
Always eager to learn new knowledge and skills I am currently training as a life coach.
I truly believe in the power of the work that I do in helping people to a better quality of life.
